Marble Slab Creamery opens on Kohala Coast

Since 1983, Marble Slab Creamery has taken the frozen dessert industry to new heights with its homemade, superpremium ice cream, fresh-baked waffle cones and variety of delicious “mixins.” Franchise owners, Ryan and Amy Kitendaugh, brought the Marble Slab “superpremium” concept to the Kohala Coast with the opening of their first store on Dec. 11.

Located in the Shops at Mauna Lani next to Starbucks and Tommy Bahama, Marble Slab Creamery will make its mark on Kohala. This Marble Slab location will serve up its homemade ice cream, made fresh daily, in more than 40 flavors, which can be combined with a variety of mixins and folded together on a frozen marble slab.

In addition to the homemade ice cream, fresh-baked waffle cones and nonfat, frozen yogurt, Marble Slab also offers personalized ice cream cakes and pies for all occasions.

Copper falls, testing fresh 6-month low

Copper futures closed lower Thursday, after the benchmark March contract tested a fresh six-month low.

Workers at Calama No. 1 union, the last union negotiating contracts with Chilean miner Codelco, voted to accept the company’s final offer, a union leader said Wednesday evening.

At settlement, most-active March copper was down 7.4 cents at $2.8805 per pound on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Earlier the contract reached $2.86 per pound — its weakest level since June 22.
